You are the consulting detective. On the night of 4 to 5 February 2026, the Algiers–Oran night express stopped in a ravine for six hours. In the morning, a lawyer was found stabbed in his compartment. Nobody could have entered or left the sleeping car: both its doors were locked. Open the evidence in any order. Statements contradict each other; people lie, and some lie about small things for innocent reasons. Two items are puzzles: the attendant’s locked locker , which opens with a four-digit code, and the lawyer’s blotting pad , which you read with a mirror. Use the notebook.
